The Zeppelin LZ 129 Hindenburg was the ultimate in travel of any kind and operated regular transatlantic flights between Germany and both New York and Rio de Janeiro.
The Hindenburg was the largest airship ever built and stretched 776 feet (236 meters) form tip to tail and had a top speed of 80 mph.On 6 May 1937, while landing in Lakehurst, New York after a transatlantic flight, in front of thousands of spectators, the tail of the ship caught fire, and within seconds, the Hindenburg burst into flames.
Dramatic and historical from the golden age of travel, this five and a half-foot long model of the 1937 Zeppelin lets its glory live on. Built by hand with over 600 glued joints and satin canvas fabric stretched over the frame, this model is stately and impressive.
