Seemingly designed by Disney cartoon designers the Gee-Bees were winning 1932 national air races.
With names like Wasp Jr. and Bumblebee they featured 550 HP engines and did not use wing flaps. At the time serious and popular they now look comical, and have become beloved icons from 1930s flight history.
